"Duas Calandras"- Ana Clara Barros, Ana Beatriz Tittoni, Henrique Alves e Luiza azevedo

Now we will talk about the important and reflective work of art that we recreate, the painting “Duas Calandras“. This is a famous painting of the nineteenth century painted by the impressionist artist Edgar Degas.
Edgar Degas was born in Paris in 1834 and dead in 1917. He is known by his wonderful paintings of the corps de ballet of Paris Opera and as one of the creators of the Impressionist art movement. Different to the others artist of this time, who paints just the bourgeoisie, Degas passed a long time (1869 -1895) painting his staffs.
‘’Duas Calandras” shows two women ironing and they look like very tired. One of them holds a bottle and put the hands up, while the other woman continues working even tired. The artist started to paint it in 1869 and finished in 1884, he spend 15 years in this work of art.

We think this work of art is very simple, but interesting and beautiful, because Edgar Degas captured the hard work and the strength of those women.
