O Laçador

The laçador statue is a monument of Porto Alegre city. It is the representation of traditional gaucho pilchar (wearing a gaucho’s vestment) made by Antonio Caringi. Antonio Caringi was a Brazilian sculpture born in the city of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul in May 25 in the year of 1905. He began his career at age 23, living Brazil to improve his techniques in Monique, Deutschland. He came back to Brazil in 1940 because of the Second World War. In 1958, he built the laçador in Largo do Bombeiro, and after it was transferred to Sítio do Laçador.
For the most people the Laçador is a cool place to take a photo and relax. Near the airport Salgado Filho, the statue is easy to find and it has a great parking lot. It represents the Gauchos, and some people think it is mysterious and manlike.

Our group make a conclusion, for us the Laçador represent the simbol of Gauchos and its for shows the bravery of our culture. It is a big stone statue and we stayed very impressive with the important of the Laçador

Muchacha en la Ventana- Salvador Dalí

Salvador Dali was a Catalan surrealist painter born on 11 May 1904, known for his eccentricity and extravagance.
"Muchacha en la Ventana" is a painting from 1925 that depicts his sister, one of her unique designs in Catáques.
We like this painting because it conveys the calm, tranquility girl, the combination of shades of blue. It is very beautiful!

Yasmin e Mariana-8A

Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a french impressionist . he made lots of famous paintings, as jeunnesfilles au piano or young girls at the piano wich was painted in 1892 and is now exposed at Museé d`orsay in Paris.
This painting is one of my favorites and the artist is, in my opinion the best. i appreciate the way he paints ,it gives a beautifull effect in the artwork and you can almost feel that you are inside the painting.

Living Picture of Arthur Greco, Felipe Samuel and Leonardo Bertoletti

Our Living Picture
Real Picture

Our living picture is Van Gogh's self portrait with straw hat. He was a famous netherlander painter, he born in Zundert and lived only 37 years. His self-portrait was painted in the european winter of 1887 in Paris. We think that the painting it's very beautiful and difficult because was done with a lot of brushstrokes in various directions. The strength of the portrait is the depth of eyes lost in the misery of his life. Our final impression is that this picture is awesome, allows you to feel what he felt.

The Thinker - José, Renan and Felipe Alves - Turma 8C

The Thinker

The work of sculptor Auguste Rodin, originally called The Poet, is now called The Thinker, this work portrayed Dante across the Gates of Hell, enjoying his poem, it had two versions, dating, 1880 and 1902, however the sculpture from 1902 has a larger scale.
Observation: Renan was the cutest.

At Eternity´s Gate - Leonardo Gandolfi, Rafael e Sofia 8ªE

At Eternity´s Gate - Vincent Van Gogh

The theme of the painting is depression, portrayed by Van Gogh in the form of a man with his hands on his face, showing sadness and indecision. The truth is that the man is Van Gogh himself at the end of his days. The art work was concluded a few days before he commited suicide. The setting of the painting is a very simple house mostly made of wood. We think this painting shows a very serious matter, because depression is a subject that is present on many people's lifes. It is a very beautiful art work and we suppose it was  hard to make it

Pulp Fiction Bananas

by Banksy

Artur Costa Ribeiro and Murilo Kessler de Azambuja- 8ªA

Banksy is the pseudonym of a British graffiti artist whose true identity remains unknown to the general public.
Their graffiti appear on the streets, walls, bridges and public facilities, often representing a critical opinion about something current.
His provocative articles began appearing in the 1990s and today are featured. Currently, the works of Banksy has high value in the art market.

Here is our attempt (Arthur and Murilo) making a "living picture" and one of his works.

"The Scream" - Leonardo Pechansky, Matheus Gheller, Tomas Martinez - 8ªE

One of the most famous pictures of all time, "The Scream" (Norwegian: Skrik) is a composition of four paintings by Edvard Munch.

It shows a figure with an agonized expression on the dock of Oslojford (Oslo) at the sunset. "The Scream" is considered one of the most important works to the Expressionism movement, "the Mona Lisa for our time".

We have chosen this picture because of its importance to the art world and quality, bringing us the feeling of agony, melancholy and fear.

Girl whit a Balloon

He was made in South Bank of London in 2002, the author is Banksy. In this work an innocent girl is reaching for a red heart-shaped balloon.

This painting in we opinion is very beautiful, difficult, and expressive. We did not find any weak point, because the painting is so realistic and perfectionist. Painting in general is well-crafted, realistic and some points of view is also confusing.

"Portrait of the dr.Gachet"-Eduardo Kroth, Henrique Varela e João Vicente 8ªE

The painting "Portrait of Dr Gachet" is one of the works of the painter Van Gogh. He was born on March 30, 1853 in Netherlands. The work was painted in 1890 and sold 100 years later for   $82.5 million. It is a portrait of the doctor Gachet, who appears very sad, probably for some event of the work.

We think the painting looks like a bored, sad and desperate man. Also it is dramatic, it can transmit a feeling through their textures and colors. The strength of the work is the texture of brushstrokes that make reference to sadness of man and the weakness is the fund. We found the painting moving and dramatic, to feel the sadness and despair of the doctor when we looked at the painting. Our opinion is that the expression of man over the dramatic brushstrokes make us feel the loneliness and sadness of the doctor.

Edson Lang, Monike Natalie, Giulia Fontana

Undoubtedly one of the most famous works of art from historically is our smiling Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.

The portrait photographer began in 1503 and ended three or four years later. The oil painting on poplar wood is exposed in the Louvre in Paris, and is the biggest attraction of the museum.

The painting was brought from Italy to France by Leonardo da Vinci himself in 1516 when he was invited by King Francis I of France to work in his court. Francisco would then bought the painting, which is now displayed in Fontainebleau and later at the Palace of Versailles. Only after the French Revolution, the painting was exhibited at the Louvre, where it is today.

"Two Dancers- Degas" - Dora, Isabel and Laura 8C

Our group has decided to reproduce a painting that was produced by Edgar Degas, called “Two Dancers”.
Edgar Hilaire Germain Degas was born is Paris, July 19th , 1834. Degas was a french painter, printmaker, sculptor and photographer. He’s known specially because of his particular vision of the ballet world, knowing how to capture the most beautiful and sudden scenarios. He’s also known by his famous biscuits and as one of the founders of Impressionism. Lots of his works are maintened in the Orsay’s Museum, in Paris, where de artist was born and died. “Two Dancers” was started in 1878, but was only finished in 1880. The painting shows two young ballerinas in a plain beige background. We feel a bit of confusion when looking at the picture, because they’re dressed to dance, but it seems that they don’t want to do it. We also feel some innocence of children, what, at this period of life, is very present. The weaknesses are that the painting is really impersonal, distant and mysterious, because we will never be able to understand exactly what the artist wanted to show and transmit with this painting. The strengths are that it makes us wonder what was really happening with the girls, what where they feeling, etc. So, this is a very reflexive artwork. Our final impressions are that this is a really controversial artwork, because we can’t be sure about almost anything, but, at the same time, it makes us reflect a lot.

Andrea del Sarto's self-portrait

Group: Lorenzo Abs, Pedro Monteiro, Vitória Schiavon from 8C.

The painting we choose to recreate as a living picture is a self-portrait by the italian painter Andrea del Sarto. He was born on 16th of July on 1486, in Florence, and died in the same city he was born, on 29th of September on 1530, or on 21th of janurary on 1531, because the day he passed away is still uncertain.
The artwork shows very well the reason that Andrea was often called an artist "senza errori", expression that translate to "without errors". He used to paint almost perfect human figures, and this paiting that we are worked with is not an exception. The picture also shows us the simplicity and the seriousness of the artist.

Almeida Júnior- Tamara C.S.C, Valentina Balbi e Suelmi T. - 8A

"A Moça com Livro"

Biography: He was born on May 8, 1850 in Itu and died on November 13, 1899, with 49 years old , in Piracicaba; He addressed the regionalist theme introduction the broad featured giving simple and anonymous characters; He supplied the monumentality sends artistic education in favor of naturalism. Was the best painter who assimilated the legacy of realismo; His biography and even today the object of study of particular interest being the history and legends concerning the circumstances that led his murder; The day of the Brazilian artist is celebrated on May 8, birthday of Jose Ferraz de Almeida Junior; To represent women, Almeida Junior, questions the behavior of society with appearance.

The work: The painting "A Moça com Livro", is located in the São Paulo art museum; On this painting of Almeida Junior, this women with short hair was affront to society, that this type of haircut was only used by foreing and unqualified women; The woman of the painting is also represented sensually because of the makeup of the mouth and eyes; When the woman directs her gaze upward, the painting stays with an idea of reflection, conditions unacceptable for a young family at that time; At that time the woman should ask a man of the family a permission to read a book; The technique used by the painter was paint with oil on the canvas.

Opinion: We chose this work because when we read his story we realized that in that time the mens and the society were severe with women, "restricting" their freedom. In the painting this women is showing that she she is free, doing and wearing what she wants without fear of what others say or do.

Almeida Júnior - Júlia, Isabel e Kiani - 8ªA

" A Moça com Livro"

This artwork is painted by Almeida Junior, a brazilian artist. He is famous for painting religious artworks. Many of them are in Pinacoteca of São Paulo. His artworks were very realistic. He lived in France during the Impressionist movement.

Almeida Junior died at age 49, on November 13, 1899. He was died in front of the Central Hotel of Piracicaba.

This paint is an oil painting on canvas and is in MASP.

We chose this artwork because it show a woman that is brazilian like us and because of the realism of the paint. The woman appears to be in a daydreaming or reflecting, the same thing what we do in that time. The artwork shows the strength of feminism. Women could not cut her hair short or read a book, only with the permission of their husbands. We also liked the fact of the painter is a brazilian and that the work is realist.

Curiosity:

- The full name of the artist is José Ferraz de Almeida Júnior.

-He was dead stabbed by his cousin, husband of the woman that remained a secret romantic relationship for several years.

Good bye! We hope you enjoyed! J Kisses

"Girl with the Pearl Earring - Johannes Vermeer" Cecilia Rodrigues de Freitas e Felipe Pereira Würch 8ªA

The painting "Girl with the Pearl Earring" is one of the works of the painter Johannes Vermeer (born October 1632, Holland 31), he portrayed the girl's face gently in painting, he wanted to make her look passed an air of mystery, he also wanted to make the image be extremely poetic. No one knows who was the model for the painting and the work is undated, but think it was made around 1665, also don't know if the frame was ordered and if it was, by who. Today the painting is in the Mauritshuis museum in Haia. In 2003, a Hollywood film was based on the painting with the same name. Our group chose this painting because besides being famous and really pretty, it can pass to us exactly what the painter wanted to portray, the most interesting is that we can interpret the expression in different ways, but always with a mystery in the girl's face.

Self-Portrait, Van Gogh, 1889 - Heitor Barbosa,João Gabriel e Kaio Vinicius. 8 A

We chose the Vincent Self Portrait because of his fame and legacy but honestly we also    considered the categorie of what we could or could not do and we chose to follow the impressionism  painters. Vincent Willem van Gogh had what you can call a tragic life born in 1853, his life was surrounded by failures he could not start a family and died in 1890 by a mental disease what lead him to suicide, but he still considered one of the best painters of all time influencing a lot of arts from XIX century(influence enough to have a museum on Amisterdan dedicaded only to his work.

Autorretrato de Van Gogh de 1889

Living pictures project: Thiago Antonio & Filipe 8C "The Thinker".

The sculpture named (at first the poet) The Thinker, it's a bronze sculpture maid by Auguste Rodin.
Rodin was born in Paris on november 12, 1840 and he died on november 17, 1917. Auguste was french and he is famous because of his sculptures. The Thinker is one of his best artworks, it was sculpted in bronze in 1902. This sculture represents a man thinking and meditating about maybe his own life or about other things, and that’s the interesting part because you need to think what is he thinking and than you make a big reflexion. In our opinion this is the best part of the artwork, to exchange places with the thinker and imagine what would you be thinking if you were the thinker.
This sculpture is really reflective, sad or frustrated at the same time. Its strengths are the reflexion power and its weakness maybe the melancholy at the same time. So our final impression  of this artwork is that it has a great power of reflexion and thinking about your life and at the same time it can be really sad and melancholic.

"Girl with a Pearl Earring - Johannes Vermeer" Laura Ramos e Bárbara 8ªE

This painting was done in 1665 by the painter Johannes Vermeer, is the second most important and famous dutch painter and is so named because of the jewel that is using.

We found a very nice painting and also chose to be very popular.  It is a painting that makes us think, very beautiful and also very elaborate, This painting has a great degree of popularity so much that the artist was very famous because of her and other.

Femme en blanc au jardin- Gianne Tesch, Gabriela Pinho, Gabrielle 8C

The title of the picture that we choose is "Femme en blanc au jardin". The author is Monet. Oscar-Claude Monet was born in november 14th of 1840, on France. The paint was painted in 1867. The picture shows a woman dressed in white holding her umbrella, standing over a beautiful garden, enjoying the flowers. The image shows many plants and flowers, forming a beautiful landscape. Our opinion is that the painting is beautiful, sweet and peaceful. We think that the painting is kind a difficult to understand because don't have so much thing  happening there, but is a powerfull painting.
Our final impression is that the painting is complicated to understand but at the same time pass a sensation of strenght, and is a beautiful painting.

"Woman with a Parasol - Madame Monet and Her Son" - Isadora Renck, Gabriela Kellermann and Marta Brack- 8ªC

Oscar Claude Monet, was born in Paris in November 14, 1840. He is the most famous impressionist painter, because in his paintings, he always reproduce the lights, be the moon, be the sun, he prefer painting outdoors and makes the light interfere in the matter, create shapes and give life to the art.

This painting is “Woman with a Parasol - Madam Monet and Her Son”, it was painted in 1875 by Claude Monet. This paint portrait his wife, Camille Monet, who also appears in many paintings of Monet. It shows the beauty of the woman and express the love and the affection by her.

The weakness point of the painting, is the lights and the sun, that represents, the simplicity. We choose this painting, because shows the beauty of a simple landscape and the skills of light used by Monet, whose are incredible.

Self-portrait of Van Gogh - Natália, Rafael, Sofia 8ªC

This is the Self-Portrait of Vincent Van Gogh.
He was born in 1853 in a city named Zundert and the artwork was painted in 1886/1887.
What we liked the most about the painting is that it shows, at the same time, sensibility and anger. We think that in his eyes it's possible to feel the conflict, because Van Gogh was a perturbed person, he had some mental illness too.
This artwork shows himself and he is not smiling or giving a nice look, he is serious and rough. Also, we really liked the details in the background: one side shows the "calm" and the other side shows the "dark" (the light colors in the left and the dark colors in the right).
The strength is in his eyes, and the weakness are in the colors.

"Madonna" - Maria Eduarda Palharini e Luíza Levorse Pretto 8ªE

Romero Britto is a Brazilian painter and sculptor. It is considered one of the most prestigious artists by american celebrities, have painted pictures for Madonna, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michael Jackson. Paintings also produced for such names as Dilma Rousseff, Bill Clinton and the royal couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton, was also invited by Prince Charles to dinner at Buckingham Palace.
Romero is known for its colorful and joyful works and is based on the reprocessing of popular images, contemplating the language of urban culture
Became very famous after the campaign illustrate the Swedish vodka Absolut.
We chose it because it is a different artist from the others by its colorful and cheerful arts, and also because we already were enjoying the artist's work.
This paint "does not have much history," she's just a portrait of Madonna.

Monalisa- Pedro Portella, Matheus Nunes, João Victor, Pedro Vigo. 8ªC

Leonardo da Vinci was born in Anchiano, Italy in april 15th 1452 and died in may 2nd of 1513. During his life he did a lot of projects and he held various services as a painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, mathematician, philosopher, etc. He painted a lot of famous paintings like Monalisa and The Last Supper.
Monalisa was painted from 1503 to 1506, when she was finished and exposed.

“Dancer In Front Of a Window” Manoela Pereira Machado e Ana Carolina M. Castiglio- 8ªA

“Dancer In Front Of a Window” was painted by Edgar Degas around 1875. Degas was a French artist born in 1834. He is especially identified with the subject of dance, because more than half of his works depict dancers. He is very famous for his sculptures, drawings, paintings and prints. He is regarded as one of the founders of impressionism, although he preferred to be called realist.
This painting is about a ballerina that it’s dancing in front of a window. We think that the painting is really beautiful and expressive and it transmits a feeling of loneliness.
In our opinion the weaknesses of the painting are the ballerina’s face, and her expression. And the strengths are the lights and shadows of the painting.
For us, the painting it’s beautiful and delicate, but, at the same time, strong.
We think that we should show the painting to the others, because it´s a very cool and pretty work and it has to win recognition.
We concluded that the painting by Degas it’s really beautiful and passes different emotions to us. We can conclude too that Degas was a really good artist and he liked ballet.

Rembrandt - Pedro Menezes e Matheus R - 8C

Rembrandt is the person who made this picture and try to represent it. His self-portrait was made in 1660. He was born on July 15, 1606 and died on October 4, 1669. We think this figure depicts the look of the great painter Rembrandt. A rueful look because his life was marked by a major financial and personal tragedy. However all his paintings continued to great success.

Monalisa Vitória, Fernanda and Suziane 8ªE

Monalisa is a masterpiece painted by Leonardo da Vinci. He was a renaissance painter born in the little city of Vinci in Italy on 1452. Besides a great painter Leonardo was also a scientist, an engineer, a mathematician.
The painting Monalisa represents a smiling woman looking toward the spectator. Her eyes follow him as he walks to the right or to the left. The smile of Monalisa is the most famous in the world.
Some people say it is enigmatic others say it is seductive.  Leonardo used the technique "smufato". You don't see the marks of the brush.
The work is efficient and powerfull. Everyone that saw Monalisa never forget her. The spectator stays hipnotised by her. Leonardo loved so much this painting that it was with him till his death.

Alice Furtado, Amanda Barros and Pedro Nunes 8C
American Gothic

American gothic is an artwork by Grant Wood. He was born in february 13, 1891
in four miles east of Anamosa, Iowa. It was painted in 1930, the artwork is about  “the kind of people I fancied should live in that house”.
We think  the painting reminds of a sad, conservative and boring couple. The strength is that the artwork is very expressive, and we can imagine the life of the characters, the weakness are the trees, that aren`t as real as the rest of it.
Our final opinion is that just the look of the couple can touch who see it.

"Duas Calandras"- Ana Clara Barros, Ana Beatriz Tittoni, Henrique Alves e Luiza azevedo

Now we will talk about the important and reflective work of art that we recreate, the painting “Duas Calandras“. This is a famous painting of the nineteenth century painted by the impressionist artist Edgar Degas.
Edgar Degas was born in Paris in 1834 and dead in 1917. He is known by his wonderful paintings of the corps de ballet of Paris Opera and as one of the creators of the Impressionist art movement. Different to the others artist of this time, who paints just the bourgeoisie, Degas passed a long time (1869 -1895) painting his staffs.
‘’Duas Calandras” shows two women ironing and they look like very tired. One of them holds a bottle and put the hands up, while the other woman continues working even tired. The artist started to paint it in 1869 and finished in 1884, he spend 15 years in this work of art.

We think this work of art is very simple, but interesting and beautiful, because Edgar Degas captured the hard work and the strength of those women.
